Corporate Citizenship
EMD's main aim is to improve the lives of its clients, either through education or by the advice that it gives. At EMD we feel that corporate citizenship is about changing lives and societies, that is why we financially support Formento para el Desarrollo Integral (FDI), a non-profit organisation in Guatemala, Central America, helping people in rural communities develop their literacy skills through libraries. EMD director, Stuart Hanson, has been out to Guatemala and met with the project's co-ordinators. To read his blog, click here.
FDI believes strongly in involving the whole community at every stage of a project. The result of this is that each library that is set up is self-sustained and self-managed by its own community. The specific objectives of the project are below:
Specific Objectives
- That the children and adolescents prepare more suitably to face the future.
- That the adults have the opportunity to expand their knowledge.
- To create or stimulate a culture of reading.
- That students of all levels have a suitable place to complete their homework and research.
- To foster the literary arts.
If you are interested in supporting the work of the FDI, please complete the EMD online enquiry form or visit the project's website by clicking here.
